Reviews for Kloe’s New Start

🏫
Kloe’s New Start by K.M. Selvidge is an engaging and heartwarming story that teaches kids about the importance of being true to yourself instead of being defined by a siblings’ behavior and reputation. It covers subjects like learning to make new friends, fitting in, and developing the confidence to try something new. The charming and detailed illustrations by Kateryna Meleshchuk enhance the story.
🎒
This chapter book is perfect for children aged 7 – 13, especially when they may be feeling anxiety when starting something new. I think this book can lead to a great discussion about what they can do if they have similar feelings. What is the best way to be supportive of a sibling who is acting out? This copy will be available in my LFL for one lucky reader!
😻
I love that the three main characters, Wreny, Kloe, and Petey, are inspired by the author’s real cats!

Summary:

Kloe can’t wait to get started at her new school… but when her brother Wreny starts acting out, will she end up stuck in his shadow? Or will she be able to make her own way and make others see her for who she truly is?

❓️Do you have siblings? Did you have any issues going to school together? I’m an only child, so I didn’t have that experience.

MY REVIEW:
I love the cover of this book that have cats but there like human caps and also all time is one of my favorite seasons. This is the story of a human like cat named Khloe, who is super excited to start her first day of junior high school. Wreny, is her brother and she has been held back a year as he acted out a lot during the previous year and now both brother and sister are going to school at the same time and the same school. There is some bullying mentioned between Wreny and the school quarterback named Brownie.

We loved the illustrations of all the students and the animals in this book there are very human like and also wearing clothing which was interesting. I love how the book has a message that anyone can be friends with anyone else and even Khloe was trying out for being a cheerleader, and Brownie takes notice of her due to tryouts. Her brother is going through teenage angst during the book however Khloe is doing quite well in school and becoming more and more popular among the students and the teachers.

I loved how the author incorporated several messages into this book about doing your best, being yourself, not letting others get you down, and more.

This is an excellent read and I highly recommend this one to kids in the junior high school years as this may help some during school time.

Country mama rating: five out of five hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
